Counselling

Mackenzie Korhonen - Child Development Advisor

As the Child Development Advisor at W.G. Murdoch, it is important to me that all students have the skills and strategies required to take care of themselves socially, emotionally and physically. I feel that school should be a safe and comfortable place for students to be themselves. If for any reason students are feeling overwhelmed, I am available to support them in finding a solution to best suit their needs. My door is always open to students, staff, and parents to discuss concerns or celebrate successes.

Areas of support include the following:

  • Breakfast for Learning
  •  Conflict resolution and healthy peer relationships
  •  Coping with family changes including referrals to community supports
  •  Dealing with loss and grief
  •  Anxiety, self-esteem, social skills, resiliency/character development
  • Mind Up

My availability is 8:30 - 3:00 Monday to Thursday and 8:30 - 1:00 on Fridays.

An annual CDA consent form is required for ongoing regular student support.
