Welcome to the New School Year!

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we gear up for the start of a new school year, we are excited to welcome you and your students back to a season full of new opportunities and activities. Our Physical Education team is ready to hit the ground running, and we are thrilled to introduce Bryan Masson, Athletic Director and Krista Benesch, Physical Education Teacher, who will be leading our Physical Education program this year. They will be joined by Cassandra, who will be working with Grade 6 students, and Shannon Bauer, who will focus on Grade 7 and enrichment activities. Together, our team is enthusiastic about providing an engaging and dynamic sports experience for all our students.

This year, we have some updates to share regarding our sports programs. For those playing on school sports teams, you will notice an increase in sports fees across the board. These fees will cover essential areas including sports registration, facility use, referees, commissioners, and uniforms. While we understand that any increase in fees can be a concern, please be aware that this adjustment was decided upon by the division office to combat increasing operational/ procedural costs.

In addition to the fee update, we are implementing a new approach to tryouts. We will now have a team of coaches present at tryouts to better assess student skills and foster a more inclusive environment. Tryouts will be organized into two combined grade groups: 9-12 and 7-9. We believe this new structure will streamline the process and provide a more comprehensive evaluation of each student’s abilities.

Looking ahead, we have an exciting lineup of sports activities scheduled throughout the year:

September:
- Grade 6 Soccer
- High School Golf
- Middle School and High School Cross Country
October:
- Volleyball Teams for all grades
- Grade 6- Triple Ball
November:
- Basketball for Middle School (Jr. A)
- High School Teams
January:
- Grade 6 Basketball
February:
- Jr. B Basketball Teams
- High School Curling
March/April:
- Middle School and High School Badminton
May/June:
- Track and Field

We are confident that this year will be filled with memorable experiences and significant growth for all our students. We are committed to providing a supportive and inspiring environment for their athletic development and look forward to seeing them thrive in their chosen sports.

Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Here’s to a fantastic year ahead filled with excitement, growth, and success!
Best regards,

Mr. Bryan Masson
